The register, prepared

Everything on this site is free to read. What is sold is the work of turning 196,116 rows into one row per licence, with every class of work attached, and keeping the difference between one collection and the next.

The pages of this site are free and will stay free : an official fact belongs to no one. What is sold here is the compilation work — extracting the QBCC licensed contractor register, reconciling it, dating it, and delivering it in a usable form.

What is worth buying is the flow, not the stock

The QBCC publishes the register as it stands. What it does not publish is what changed — a licence gone, a class added, a business that moved from self-certification into a graded financial category. Each publication replaces the last.

We keep every collection. From the first, on 2026-08-18, each one is compared with the previous and the differences kept. That history cannot be reconstructed afterwards by anyone who did not start collecting.

⚠️ We publish no monthly rate of new licences, because the file carries no dates at all — no issue date, no expiry, no suspension. We will say what the rate is when we have measured it across our own collections, and not before.

postcode⚠️ The postcode of the address, extracted from free text.100.0 %
state⚠️ QLD, NSW, VIC… — Queensland licensees are not all based in Queensland.98.7 %
one_row_per_licence⚠️ 196,116 source rows deduplicated to 108,536 licences, so that any count is correct.100.0 %

The 5 fields marked ⚠️ do not exist in the source : we add them — a join, a normalisation, or a reconstructed history. That is the part a buyer cannot reproduce by downloading the official file.

The five marked fields are the reason to buy rather than fetch. The source ships one row per licence per class of work — 196,116 rows for 108,536 licences — so every naive count over the raw file is wrong. And the address is free text with no separator: pulling a usable postcode out of it is a job, not a column.

What we do not sell, at any price: street addresses. 75.5% of these licences belong to individuals and the address published for them is normally their home. It is dropped when the file is read and is in no file we deliver. The finest geography we hold, sell or show is the postcode.
